Mark Calitri: Leadership, Hustle, and the Team Driving Owensboro’s Momentum

 Recognition Follows the Work

Recognition doesn’t happen by accident. It follows people who show up, stay consistent, and do the work the right way over time.

That’s what I see every day in Daylin Tolgo and Nicole Faris.

The Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation recognized them this week, and it’s well earned. This isn’t about a moment. It’s about the work behind it.

Daylin has grown into a key leader helping drive major initiatives like Burger Week, BBQ & Barrels, and continued growth in our film efforts. Her path—from Kentucky Wesleyan student-athlete to intern to leading major projects—says everything about her approach. She stepped up, stayed with it, and delivers.

Nicole recently stepped into her role as Operations and Project Manager, and her impact is clear. She brings focus to the details, keeps projects moving, and makes sure the work gets done at a high level. That kind of consistency matters more than people realize.

Teresa Jones continues to play an important role as Destination Account Executive. Her steady work with partners helps move the entire destination forward.

This is what leadership looks like.

It’s not talk. It’s not titles. It’s effort, follow-through, and a commitment to getting it right.

In the tourism business, results matter. Events have to perform. Visitors have to show up. Communities have to feel the impact.

What’s happening in Owensboro right now is real. Events are growing. Partnerships are stronger. More people are choosing to be here.

That kind of momentum doesn’t build itself.

It’s built by people like this.

The Greater Owensboro Economic Development recognition reflects that work—and where this community is headed.
