Some people spend their lives chasing success.
Dr.
Larry Bobbert spent his life building it.
His
story doesn’t begin with fame, awards, or a corner office. It begins in a
tarpaper shack. From those humble beginnings, he built a life defined by hard
work, learning, service, and a willingness to keep growing.
Larry
earned the rank of Eagle Scout before graduating from Clarion State College
with a degree in Speech and English. He later earned a master’s degree from
Wayne State University and a doctorate from the University of Cincinnati.
But
the degrees only tell part of the story.
Over
the years, Larry became a teacher, drama director, communications director,
television producer, public speaker, actor, author, screenwriter, filmmaker,
and college professor. He even earned his private pilot’s license because he
believed learning should never stop.
One
of the best parts of his story happened on an airplane. While flying to Brazil,
he met the woman who would become his wife, Lois. Together they built a
wonderful family, and their daughter, Shannon, has remained one of the greatest
blessings in their lives.
Most
people slow down after retirement.
Larry
kept going.
He
continued writing, producing, directing, mentoring, and serving others. He
founded a Tai Chi program, stayed active in Kiwanis, and continued helping
people grow through leadership, communication, and personal development.
That’s
what stands out to me.
Larry
has never been interested in collecting titles. He’s been interested in making
a difference.
Today
I’m proud to call Larry my friend and my co-author on The Winning Leadership Playbook: The
Pete Rose Way. His lifetime of
experience in leadership, education, communication, and personal growth helped
shape a book that’s practical, plainspoken, and built to help people raise
their game.
Larry’s
life is proof that your starting point doesn’t define your future.
Keep
learning.
Keep
growing.
Keep
serving.
That’s
the kind of leadership that leaves a lasting impact.
