Owensboro is about to become one of the most active sports tourism destinations in the Midwest.
This July, Visit Owensboro will launch the inaugural Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit, bringing together 11 sporting events across two weekends and welcoming an estimated 4,300 athletes along with their families to Owensboro and Daviess County.
From baseball and softball to tennis, cornhole, basketball, mountain biking, trail running, bowling, taekwondo, and disc golf, the Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit showcases the growing strength and diversity of sports tourism in Owensboro.
The event lineup includes the American Cornhole Organization World Championships at the Owensboro Convention Center, the historic Dust Bowl Basketball Tournament, USSSA Baseball and Softball tournaments, the Owensboro Open Tennis Tournament, Bluegrass Mountain Cup Race, Bluegrass Clash Open Disc Golf Tournament, Battle on the Bluegrass Taekwondo Competition, Bourbon and Bowling, The Forge Challenge, and the Rudy Rumble Trail Run.
But the Bluegrass Clash is about more than competition.
It is about creating economic impact, supporting local businesses, filling hotel rooms, generating restaurant traffic, and introducing thousands of visitors to everything Owensboro has to offer.
Athletes and families visiting Owensboro will also experience nationally recognized riverfront entertainment, live music, local attractions, restaurants, shopping, and hospitality throughout both weekends. Free concerts featuring Sushi Roll and Paradise Kitty will help create a festival atmosphere while showcasing the energy of downtown Owensboro.
The Bluegrass Clash Sports Summit is the result of collaboration between Visit Owensboro, the City of Owensboro, Daviess County, Owensboro Parks and Recreation, Daviess County Parks and Recreation, Oak View Group, local sports organizations, and community partners working together toward a common goal.
