Visit Owensboro Reports Strong Community Momentum and Tourism Success in 2025

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Visit Owensboro reports a strong year of tourism-driven momentum in 2025, highlighting sustained downtown activity, award-winning events, and meaningful economic impact across Owensboro and Daviess County. Through a community-wide effort involving hospitality partners, event organizers, venues, and local businesses, visitor activity continued to support restaurants, pubs, hotels, retailers, and public amenities throughout the year.

Tourism remained a visible contributor to downtown vitality, with consistent foot traffic generated by festivals, conventions, concerts, sports tourism, and group travel. These visitors translated directly into people filling dining rooms, nightlife venues, shops, and hotels, helping maintain energy and activity across all seasons.

Signature and award-winning events continued to anchor Owensboro’s tourism calendar. BBQ & Barrels delivered another record-setting year, featuring sold-out bourbon experiences and some of the largest crowds in the event’s history. Burger Week reached new levels of participation and sales, while Illuminate introduced a seasonal downtown experience that extended visitation into traditionally slower months.

National-caliber concerts and entertainment weekends brought a high percentage wraps into Owensboro, filling hotel rooms and driving pre- and post-event traffic to local restaurants and pubs. At the same time, the Owensboro Convention Center maintained a strong booking pace, with meetings and conventions generating consistent weekday and overnight economic impact.

Several new amenities strengthened Owensboro’s tourism toolbox in 2025. The opening of Malibu Jack’s added a year-round, family-friendly attraction supporting leisure travel, sports tourism, and conventions. Expanded downtown hotel inventory increased the community’s ability to host larger, multi-day events and accommodate peak demand.

Construction also continued on the Downtown Sports Complex, a long-term community asset funded through hotel tax revenue. The facility represents a reinvestment of tourism dollars back into the community, creating both visitor demand and resident benefit.

Tourism generated an estimated $249.7 million in visitor-related economic activity in 2025, supporting local jobs, public services, and helping reduce the tax burden on local residents.

“Strong collaboration across the community continues to be key to attracting conventions, events, and visitors to Owensboro,” said Jeff Esposito, General Manager of the Owensboro
