I had the opportunity to serve on a Chamber Young Professionals panel today and talk about where Owensboro-Daviess County is headed.
My
message was simple.
Communities
grow faster when tourism, the Chamber, and economic development stick together.
At
Visit Owensboro, our job is to sell Owensboro to the world. We bring people
here, fill hotel rooms, and create outside spending. That spending supports
restaurants, retail, jobs, attractions, and quality of life.
Tourism
is often the front door to economic development. Before someone invests here,
opens a business here, or moves their family here, they usually experience
Owensboro first. They visit our website. They stay in a hotel. They eat in our
restaurants. They walk our downtown. They attend our events.
That
first impression matters.
Owensboro
has changed a lot since I arrived in 2017. Back then, I heard people say,
“There’s nothing to do here.”
Today,
that story is different.
Burger
Week has become one of the strongest restaurant promotions in the country. BBQ
& Barrels continues to grow as a major bourbon and barbecue event. Our
riverfront is active. Live music is growing. Sports tourism is expanding. The
Bluegrass Fieldhouse will open even more doors.
The
future of Owensboro-Daviess County gets stronger when we work as one team.
That
means Visit Owensboro, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, economic
development, local businesses, and young professionals all pulling in the same
direction.
That
is how you build momentum.
That
is how you make things happen.
